ABOUT OUR GUEST

Web_Session-13-01aMagno was a faculty member of Digital Arts and Computer Animation Department in Ateneo de Naga University, before venturing in a start-up business in 2011.

It was in 2001 when Magno came to a realization that he can actually do something more than just teaching. In an event wherein mp3Manila.com (then known for featuring songs of Filipino artist) was invited to talk about their business, he figured that he can actually create a company of his own just like the gents who became a recipient of millions of pesos worth of funding. And that made him envision of having a tech company of his own.

Career vs. Business

Magno started to do sideline programming jobs; not because of financial constrictions, but to fulfill his yearning to create something that is being used by people. He created interactive media products for his clients which were used by company kiosks. And with the advent of touchscreen devices, he began integrating 3D animations in his products in 2009.

In 2011, Magno and his partners started Nueva Caceres Technology Solutions, Inc. (Nueca), a service providing company for developing mobile applications. And just in 2015, he finally left his teaching career and focused on his business.

Products of Nueca

Among other significant products that Nueca developed was iTyphoon, a mobile app that provides typhoon updates. The mobile app was able to project the exact track of the Tropical Storm “Sendong” in 2011 which have killed thousands of people and left a number of families homeless.

In 2012, Magno and his team developed NuecaPOS, a POS designed for restaurants and coffee shops. The product gained popularity in Europe and US in 2013. And in mid-2013, they developed another product called Concessio, which facilitates orders, transmits sales, and manages inventory.
