Last year, I was looking for a steel cable that I will use to build my own DIY zipline in our farm. But I didn’t know where to get it…
So just like what most people do these days when looking for something, I ask Mr. Google.
The search led me to OLX, a local online buy and sell site (formerly known as Sulit).
There I found a hardware shop in Manila that sells what I need. So I called him up and he gave me directions on how to find his store.
When I arrived, I noticed that the place has a tall gate and it looked like a house with a huge bodega at the back.
After a few minutes of knocking, the owner opened the gate. I was suprised to see that he was already a senior citizen, probably the same age as my father!
So after we made the transaction, I asked him about his experience in selling online.
He said, “Oh, my son posted those ads. And you know what, ever since we posted in that site, our sales grew by 30% overnight!”
30% increase just by posting the items online! No additional rent and no advertisement cost!
Then he went on: “In fact, yesterday, I sold a P250,000 machine to a person in Visayas and he just inquired from the internet!”
I was dumbfounded!
I thought all along that selling online was just for small items that can be easily shipped and for downloadable products with no shipping required.
But little did I know that other people selling bulky items, such as this person beside me, are also killing it online!
So if you are not yet selling online, you better start now, before your competitors do!
If this person found a way to make it work, there’s really no reason why you can’t do it too!
